Job Description: Event Technology Manager
Position Overview:
The Event Technology Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of event technology and audio-visual (AV) services for hospitality and tourism events. This role requires strong technical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of events.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of event technology infrastructure, including AV systems, lighting, staging, and network connectivity.
2. Collaborate with event planners and clients to understand their technology requirements and provide innovative solutions to enhance the event experience.
3. Manage the installation, configuration, and operation of AV equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability.
4. Coordinate with external vendors to source appropriate AV equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery and setup.
5. Conduct pre-event site visits to assess technology needs, troubleshoot potential issues, and provide recommendations for optimal setup.
6. Develop detailed event technology plans, including equipment lists, diagrams, and technical specifications.
7. Train and supervise onsite event technology staff to ensure smooth execution of AV services during events.
8. Oversee the setup and operation of video conferencing and virtual event platforms, ensuring seamless connectivity and technical support.
9. Stay up-to-date with emerging event technology trends and advancements, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance event experiences.
10. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network connectivity, cybersecurity, and data privacy compliance during events.
11. Maintain inventory of event technology equipment, ensuring proper storage, maintenance, and periodic upgrades as necessary.
12. Assist in budgeting and financial planning for event technology services, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in event technology management, preferably in the hospitality and tourism industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of event technology systems, including audio-visual equipment, lighting, staging, and video conferencing platforms.
4. Proficiency in using event management software and virtual event platforms.
5. Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve AV-related issues.
6. Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with event planners, clients, and external vendors.
8. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
9. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to oversee event technology setup and operations.
10. Knowledge of network connectivity, cybersecurity, and data privacy best practices in the context of event technology.
